Bird Friendly Ranching - a continued conversation.
By definition, it means habitat integrity through regenerative grazing, biodiversity of native plant communities, rebuilding of soil and conservation of water, all measured by the health and productivity of birdlife throughout North America’s rangelands. In Matt Skoglund’s case, bird-friendly ranching also means providing a critical winter food source; the remains of field-harvested bison feed the masses of scavenging ravens, magpies and eagles.
In 2023, North Bridger Bison (Wilsall, MT) became the first Audubon Certified bird-friendly bison ranch in Montana.
